Certificate II in Community Services

To achieve a Certificate II in Community Services a total of 9 units must be completed including 5 core units and 4 elective units as listed below. The unit CHCVOL001 Be an effective volunteer requires students to participate in at least 20hrs of voluntary work in an organisation with a structured volunteer program.

Course Duration / Method of Delivery
The Certificate II in Community Services is delivered over 12 months in a face-to-face group based environment with weekly classroom sessions at the school. Learning resources are offered either electronically or paper-based depending on the needs of students and their schools.
Vocational Education and Training in Schools (VETiS) Program
The VETiS program is funded by the Queensland Government to give eligible students funding to complete one Certificate 1 or II level qualification while attending secondary school.
VETiS qualifications can be undertaken in years 10, 11 and 12, and can count towards the Queensland Certificate of Education.
Aurora Training Institute is a Pre-Qualified Supplier under this program for the delivery of this Certificate II qualification.
Every student that completes or discontinues a VET in Schools course must complete a Student Training and Employment Survey within 3 months
There are no fees applicable for this course for eligible students undertaking VETiS training in a school environment
To be eligible to enrol in the VET in Schools program, you must:
• Currently enrolled in secondary school in either year 10, 11 or 12 and;
• Be a Queensland resident permanently residing in Queensland i.e. an Australia Citizen or permanent resident or a New Zealand citizen
• Not have previously completed or currently be enrolled in a Certificate III level qualification (or higher)*
*Certificate III Qualifications completed at secondary school are not counted
