The community services sector in Australia is forecasting enormous job growth over the next 5 years. Jobs are already on offer now and employers are looking for suitably qualified staff who not only have job skills but also personalities required from care workers.

This qualification may be used as a pathway for workforce entry as a community services worker providing first point of contact and assisting individuals in meeting their immediate needs.

COURSE DURATION/ METHOD OF DELIVERY

The Certificate II in Community Services is delivered over 12 months in a face-to-face group based environment with weekly classroom sessions at the school. Learning resources are offered either electronically or paper-based depending on the needs of students and their schools.

PAYMENT METHOD/ COST

There are no fees applicable for this course for eligible students undertaking VETiS training in a school environment. The VETiS program is funded by the Queensland Government to give eligible students funding to complete one Certificate I or II level qualification while attending secondary school. Click here for more information.

COURSE REQUIREMENTS

To achieve a Certificate II in Community Services a total of 9 units must be completed including 5 core units and 4 elective units as listed below.

The unit CHCVOL001 Be an effective volunteer requires students to participate in at least 20 hours of voluntary work in an organisation with a structured volunteer program.
